IntroductionThis attractive plant with its bright flowers grows many stems from a single base and produces attractive purple flowers. It likes dry to mesic conditions, but tolerates other soil types as well. It may grow to a height of three feet, but is normally shorter. Pollinators, especially bees, flock to this plant. It's pollen is bright orange and may cover visiting insects. Many of our native bees are collecting pollen to provision nests when this plant is blooming and, as a result, purple prairie clover is particularly popular with them at this time of year.
