During recent white-tailed deer reduction operations and subsequent disease sampling, one deer tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) at Manassas National Battlefield Park. The animal was from the Prince William County, Virginia portion of the park. This is the first CWD-positive detection at Manassas National Battlefield Park.  All terrain wheelchairs at Manassas National Battlefield Park enhance accessibility and offer new adaptive recreation experiences for visitors.  The pedestrian bridge over Young’s Branch is now re-open after necessary repairs were completed. Eight national parks in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia have concluded this year’s annual operations to reduce overabundant white-tailed deer. These parks donated more than 13,000 pounds of venison to local nonprofit organizations that will serve approximately 55,000 meals to families in need.  The dedication ceremony will be followed by a ribbon cutting and unveiling of shop, opening it officially to the public. This will be followed by blacksmithing demonstrations and living history programs presenting the life of Andrew J. Redman. Tours and children's activities are also planned.
