Archeology has long been one of the tools used to better understand the Civil War battles fought at Manassas National Battlefield Park. But it also has much to reveal about those who lived on or owned the land before and after the Civil War, including the free and enslaved African American communities of the area, and the Native Americans who lived there long before European settlement. Archeological studies are still a part of ongoing efforts to better understand the park’s history. Learn more about archeology at the park by exploring this page.
