The Mary McLeod Bethune Council House welcomes all individuals with a disability! The park strives for accessibility by communicating barriers and providing alternative programming. Explore the accessibility pages for relevant information categorized by disability type. Please be aware that the Mary McLeod Bethune Council House is not physically accessible. There is no elevator or lift and visitors must ascend stairs to access inside. Contact us with questions or for help planning your visit.  
 

Metro travel 
The closest metro stops to the home are McPherson Square Station on I street (south of the home) which visitors can take the blue, orange, or silver lines and U-street/African-Amer Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Station (north of the home) which visitors can take the green or yellow line. From each metro station, it’s about a 12–15-minute walk.  
 

Car/van travel 
There is free street parking along Vermont Ave near the home. No spaces are marked accessible. The street is well-paved and well-maintained.
