History:
This building in downtown Houghton, MI was originally the main offices for the Daily Mining Gazette newspaper, as well as a post office and electric company. It was built in 1899 by the architect Henry Leopold Ottenheimer and features a Jacobsville sandstone front. Today: In 1980, after the businesses moved to different offices in Houghton, the building was converted into apartments. Today it is known as the Gazette Apartments. Additional Reading: |
