An Anza Extravaganza!

Several hundred people gathered at Historic Canoa Ranch in Green Valley Oct. 20 for the Sixth Annual Anza Day Celebration. Families who grew up on the ranch shared stories and reveled in the restoration of the Canoa Lake. Tours of the Anza Trail were offered on horseback and bike. And representatives from the National Park Service and the Anza Trail Color Guard on horseback took part in the ceremony. Guests also enjoyed Ballet Folkloric performances, vendors, crafts and food.

Congratulations to Pima County for completing 47 miles of recreation trail and 6 trailheads of Anza Trail! Thank you for your support of the Anza Trail and for hosting a wonderful event last week! We're happy to announce that the recreation trail and the trailheads are certified components of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail!

A bicycle rider travels the Anza Trail in a desert brush landscape. Large mountains loom in the background.

A trailhead sits at the base of the pass where the expedition travelled through. You can see the saddle of the mountains. A sign marks it as part of the Anza Trail reading
