Two local artists participated in the 2009 Artist-in-Residence program at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore this summer. Michelle Michael and Larry Jensen will be show-casing their work on , Sunday, August 30, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the national lakeshore’s visitor center. Larry Jensen will be displaying a variety of wood-turned objects he has created from different local trees. His pieces reflect a high degree of skill and point out the connection between art and nature in a very tangible way. A variety of his pieces will be on display, and he will conduct a presentation on his work and what he has learned about the nature of trees. Michelle Michael spent two weeks at the national lakeshore photographing a wide variety of scenes and subjects. She will showcase her work in a slide show and be on hand to answer questions about her residency. The free program will take place at the national lakeshore’s visitor center located at the intersection of State Road 49 and U.S. Hwy. 20 in Porter, Indiana. .
