If you’ve ever dreamed of living on a farm, you can get a taste of country life right here at Indiana Dunes! The farming operation at chellberg is managed by the park’s volunteer program. Volunteers at Indiana Dunes contribute to multiple park-specific volunteering programs. The Chellberg Farm Crew is one of them. This volunteer crew helps care for the farm animals and garden. Chellberg Farm represents a typical 1890 through 1910 Swedish and Northwestern Indiana farmstead. There were over three generations of Chellbergs from the 1860’s to the 1970’s that lived on this farmstead. Their land use, or what they farmed, changed many times over this period. In 1972, the property was sold to the National Park Service. Volunteer Resources & Documents Volunteer Handbook
