The Central Alaska Network includes Denali National Park and Preserve, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, and Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve. Based on total area, the Central Alaska parklands represent 25 percent of the land in the National Park System. They encompass over 21.7 million acres (8.8 million hectares), with 11.8 million acres (4.7 million hectares) of designated wilderness in Denali and Wrangell-St Elias national parks and preserves; Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve, 72 percent of the park's total area (1,815,370 acres or 735,000 hectares) is suitable wilderness (managed the same as if it were designated wilderness).
