About Us The purpose of Hovenweep National Monument is to:
Hovenweep National Monument is part of the Southeast Utah Group of parks, sharing some staff and administrative offices with Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Natural Bridges National Monument. The Southeast Utah Group headquarters is in Moab, Utah. Read more about commercial services. Founding Documents Hovenweep National Monument was established by Presidential Proclamation no. 1654 (42 Stat. 2299), signed by President Warren G. Harding on March 2, 1923. Park boundaries were later amended with Proclamation no. 2924 (April 26,1951), Proclamation no. 2998 (November 20, 1952) and Proclamation no. 3132 (April 6, 1956). Guidance Documents In 2013, the park developed a Foundation Document to update a shared understanding of the park's purpose, significance, resources and values. This document can serve as a foundation for future planning and management decisions. |
