Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park is among the most popular attractions in the state, welcoming about two million people a year. During peak visitation, typically in December, January, June and July, parking is limited and tends to fill early each day. Visitors are encouraged to plan carefully.

Always visit Hawai‘i Volcanoes with a back-up plan
Donʻt expect to find a parking space at popular sites
Park legally and responsibly
If a parking lot is full when you arrive, chose a new destination or try again another time of day

This page provides parking lot information by location, with forecast busy times to help with planning your visit. Please be aware these are forecasts only and certain conditions may affect parking congestion. In addition to the parking areas on this page, there are numerous pull outs along Chain of Craters Road. While visiting Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, please park responsibly in designated parking stalls.

Kīlauea Visitor Center parking is used to access Volcano House hotel, Volcano Art Center Gallery, and various trails. Kīlauea Visitor Center is closed for 2 years during renovations.
