Witnesses sought for hit-and-run incident in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park

HAWAII NATIONAL PARK, Hawaiʻi – A bicyclist was severely injured after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park this morning. National Park Service law enforcement officers have launched an investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward.
The incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, within park boundaries at the intersection of Highway 11 and the road to Namakanipaio Campground.
The vehicle was described by witnesses as gold-colored sedan. The bicyclist is a 70-year-old male from Volcano.
