The museum and archive collection at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park consists of over 31,000 objects under the general classifications of archeology, ethnology, history, biology, paleontology, and geology and 1,350 linear feet of records that include documents and audio-visual material. The purpose of the museum and archive collection is to preserve the cultural, natural, and administrative activity of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
Guidelines for access and use. The museum collection and archive is open by appointment only.
The park archive contains approximately 1,350 linear feet of National Park Service records, images, personal papers, and area maps.
Artifacts provide archeologists with evidence to help answer key questions about the past. Over 6,800 archeology artifacts are preserved.
The Volcano House Registers is a collection of hotel guest registers from the historic Volcano House in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
Fine art paintings, prints and drawings are important to the history of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
