Join Conservation Legacy’s AmeriCorps team to help manage invasive plants and restore native ecosystems in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.

Details:
  • Full-time, 52-week term (1700 hours)
  • $650/week + $200 housing stipend
  • $7,395 education award after completion
  • Field-based, physically demanding work
  • Must be 18–30 (35 for veterans), U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • No housing provided; vehicle required
 

Ecology Assistant - Conservation Legacy Americorps (52 Weeks)

Location: Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, HI

Dates: 06/22/2026 - 0/6/21/2027
Deadline: Positions will close after receiving 60 complete applications, or at 11:59 p.m. EST on February 15, 2026, whichever occurs first.

Overview: This Ecology Assistant is an AmeriCorps position. This project will help natural resource managers understand the condition of water quality and aquatic ecosystems within six national parks.

  • Segal AmeriCorps Education Award: $ 7,395.00 upon successful completion of position
  • Weekly Living Allowance: $ 600.00 per week, fixed rate
  • Relocation Allowance: $ 1,100.00 (distributed as a one-time lump sum with first paycheck)

Overview: This Education Assistant is an AmeriCorps position. The Earth, Sea, Sky program enables local students to engage in inquiry-based observation, project learning, and community science. The partner organizations provide relevant opportunities for learning about volcanoes and geology, oceanography and marine biology, night sky and traditional navigation methods.

Biology Assistant - Conservation Legacy Americorps (52 Weeks)

Overview: For decades, the park Natural Resource Management (NRM) program has led research and innovation in terrestrial resource protection in Hawai'i. NRM staff manage endangered bird populations, control invasive plants, construct and check fences and traps to control nonnative animals, and conduct community outreach and service projects. These management actions represent decades of critical efforts to protect and preserve natural resources for future generations of visitors, residents and Native Hawaiian cultural practitioners alike.
