Permits & Reservations

All park visitors are required to pay an entrance fee or present a valid park pass upon entering Haleakalā National Park. The entrance fee allows visitors to explore the trails, overlooks, and visitor centers for 3 days. In addition to the entrance fee, visitors have the option to make reservations and obtain permits for various activities within the park.

Anyone entering the park for sunrise must have an advance reservation.

Haleakalā Sunrise Reservations

Visitors in personal or rental vehicles wishing to view sunrise at Haleakalā National Park must make sunrise viewing reservations ahead of time on recreation.gov.

Wilderness Cabin Reservations

Three Wilderness cabins are maintained by the National Park Service for visitor use by advanced reservation. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance online at recreation.gov. Learn more about the Wilderness cabins.


Wilderness Camping Permits

There are two primitive Wilderness campsites which are accessible only by trail. Permits are required for camping at these sites and must be obtained through recreation.gov. Learn more about Wilderness camping.


Commercial Use
