Harpers Ferry Middle School Vodcasts

From 2009 to 2016, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park partnered with Harpers Ferry Middle School in a service learning project in which students created videos about the history of Harpers Ferry.

Park rangers taught students about the history of Harpers Ferry, showed the students where history happened and brought in primary sources, artifacts, and subject matter experts for the students to learn from. Teams of students then picked interesting stories, wrote scripts, scouted locations, picked costumes, acted their scenes on video, and edited the footage.

The videos at the below links are the results of this multi-year partnership. At the bottom of this page are two behind the scenes videos that explain a little more about the service learning project and how the students felt about being part of "vodcast."

We hope you enjoy seeing the efforts and creativity of these students in their local national park.
