Some positions start in April and others start in May. All positions last through late September.

Join our team to inspire curiosity, connection, and compassion for the land. This is an opportunity to work alongside park rangers and grow your career in the National Park Service. You will work in a visitor center, create your own programs, and grow your skills in public speaking. Applicants should have an enthusiasm for sharing knowledge, stories, and fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world with the 3.5 million visitors we receive every year.

As part of this work, the ability to work with others in a fast-paced environment is key. We come from different communities and backgrounds to work and live together in the shadow of the Tetons, all while celebrating the aspects of this park that make it grand.

 

As a Grand Teton Interpretive Associate, you will:

• Participate in a multi-day National Park Service interpreter skills training.
• Provide visitors with information and orientation in a variety of settings including visitor centers, contact stations, parking areas, and while roving trails.
• Develop and present a variety of in-depth ranger programs that help interpret the park’s resources, cultural history, and stories to a visiting public.
• Work 9-hour days and alternate between a 4 and 5 day work week. Associates should expect to work weekends and most holidays.
• Earn $19.91/hr
• Includes Sick Leave and Paid Time Off.
• Government housing is provided with a rent deduction from pay.

These are seasonal positions that are expected to begin in early April or Mid-May. The planned end date for all positions is late-September. Some positions may have an option to extend into October. Applicants must be available mid-May through late-September to be considered for a position.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

An important reminder, all skills needed for this position will be trained on the job. A good attitude, curiosity for learning, and a willingness to work hard contributing to the team are the only prerequisites to finding success.

Essential skills and experience: Public speaking and presentation skills and abilities; interest and/or knowledge in natural and/or cultural history; skill in using computers; ability to work independently and live in a remote area.

Additional skills and experience that are helpful: Background in interpretation, environmental education, biology, geology, history, or related fields; experience working in a museum, Tribal/state/city park, Tribal heritage center, or community outreach/engagement; experience working with the public

Skills and experience that associates will gain from this position: Experience in interpretive skills (e.g. public speaking/presentations), customer service, cross-training with other park divisions, etc.
