NPS

A landscape shaped by fire stretches up through this meadow filled basin. Strawberry Creek abounds as the hillsides recover from the 2016 Strawberry Fire, allowing an incredible insight to the resilience of this place, along with the recovery efforts of both nature and humans.

Trails are found in smaller numbers, but the chance to spot large herbivores like Elk are high, especially during the Rut in the fall. Climb higher up to find spring-fed creeks, a gradient of fall colors in autumn, and fields of wildflowers in spring. Strawberry is not to be missed by the committed traveller, and hiking here will remind all these sacred places are capable of immense change.
