On October 20, 2011, the symposium State of the Bay: Past, Present and Future - Revisited took place at Brooklyn College. The symposium was sponsored by National Park Service, New York City Department of Environmental Protection and Brooklyn College.

Gateway hopes continue the sharing of research by hosting a series of symposia every few years. Scroll down to listen to audio files of the first two presentations.

Salt marshes such as these play a key role in the water quality of Jamaica Bay.
The health of Jamaica Bay is subject to the effects of being surrounded by millions of people.  Stakeholders continue to look for ways to improve the conditions in the bay through research and transformation efforts.
