The Dover Green was laid out in 1717, following a plan created by William Penn in 1683, to serve as a gathering area for the growing town. The Green has played a role in the American Revolution, founding of the nation, Women’s Rights, Civil Rights and more.

Your tour of The Green will start at the John Bell House with our partners at First State Heritage Park. Make sure you ask them about their First Saturday’s in The First State events and where else you can tour while you are in Dover. If you would like to get your passport book stamped, you will need to visit the Old State House, where you will be greeted by an employee from our partners at the Delaware Division of Historical & Cultural Affairs.
