While we occasionally host events in the winter, most park events are planned for the spring, summer, and fall.

Lecture: Nationalism and Democracy in the Mid-Nineteenth Century: International Perspectives of the American Civil War Era

Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center (9001 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553) 1 hour
Join historians Niels Eichorn and Duncan A. Campbell at the Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center auditorium for a lecture and discussion about the wide reaching impacts and influences upon the American Civil War. Niels Eichhorn is the author of Liberty and Slavery: European Separatists, Southern Secession, and the American Civil War and The Civil War Battles of Macon. He is an IB Teacher at Louisenlund in Germany. Duncan A. Campbell is professor of history at National University in San Diego and the author of Unlikely Allies: Britain, America and the Victorian Origins of the Special Relationship.

USA Jobs Resume Workshop

Interested in getting a job with the National Park Service? Join us Wednesday, October 23, at the University of Mary Washington for a USA Jobs Resume Workshop hosted by the National Park Service Recruitment Team. This workshop will be a hybrid virtual/live event with featuring staff from the Historic Preservation Training Center and Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania NMP! The event will take place from 5 pm-6:30 pm, with some time for questions afterward

    The National Cemetery Illumination takes place every year during Memorial Day Weekend.

    Experience a different side of the battlefield in this evening series focusing on lesser-known stories and historical perspectives.

  • A selection of Civil War themed books.
    Civil War Book Group

    In partnership with the Central Rappahannock Regional Library, the Civil War Book Group meets once a month.
