The celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary of becoming an new nation starts with you! As the Charleston area National Parks approach America 250th anniversary, volunteer opportunities are available for those who would like to participate in this historic event. Living History VolunteersAre you interested in participating in living history at the park? Whether you are part of a group or a solo act, we invite period-accurate interpretation to help us make the visitor experience special! Volunteering for Special EventsAre you interested in joining us for one of our America 250 events like Carolina Day?
Volunteers participating in Carolina Day are requested to volunteer for a 4 hour block of time. Prior to volunteering for special events, volunteers must have 8 hours of volunteer training/work at the park. Virtual VolunteersInterested in helping from home? Check out the Citizen Archivist Project! The National Park Service and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) are collaborating on a special project to transcribe the pension records of more than 80,000 of America’s first veterans and their widows.
