Fort Point National Historic Site Building 999, Marine Drive San Francisco, CA 94129 Fort Point is located at the south anchorage of the Golden Gate Bridge at the end of Marine Drive on the Presidio of San Francisco. By car take Highway 101 N or S, exit at the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza at south end of bridge. From S turn right at end of exit ramp, or from N go straight on Merchant Drive. Turn left onto Lincoln Boulevard. Take a left onto Long Avenue and follow onto Marine Drive. Fort Point is typically cold and windy throughout the year. Fog is especially common in the summer months. Come prepared with layers and windbreakers for maximum comfort. Entrance Fee-free This site is fee-free year-round. No entrance fee or pass is required. Public WiFi is not available.

Please check our Operating Hours & Seasons page for the latest information. The weather at Fort Point is almost always cool, damp and windy; especially in the summer. So bring layers for comfort at the fort year round. There is a small bookstore in the fort where you can buy historical books, photos and souvenirs. National Park passes are also available at the bookstore. Permits and reservations may be needed for some activities at Fort Point. DogsPets are not allowed inside of Fort Point, but are allowed outside, on the grounds. Photography at the FortFort Point is a great location for both professional and hobbyist photographers, but please respect other visitors and the historic fort while doing so. A permit is needed if your photography will adversely affect other visitors' access or experience at the site. Rules include the following:
