While every piece was a stroke of genius, the intention of this program is to use unique tools such as boxing gloves, smearing tools, paint brushes, sponges, and stencils to be intentional in expressing themselves artistically. Photo Gallery 2024 Privateer Day FOMC36 Images Welcome to Baltimore, 1814! Described as a "nest of pirates" Baltimore was home to many privateers during the War of 1812. On June 29th as we explored the history of privateers who sought fame and fortune on the high seas aboard Baltimore-built topsail schooners. Visitors explored the payoffs and pitfalls of privateering, and learned about the fighting sailors whose skills in handling canvas and cutlass led to the capture of at least 1,200 British merchant ships during the war.
