Agricultural Adjustment Act (1933-1936)
Farmers were paid to grow less thus increasing farm prices. Farm income rose, but tenants and sharecroppers lost their jobs. In 1936, the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional, but it was replaced by similar programs and with some changes, it still exists today.

Federal Housing Administration (1934-1965)
The purpose of this program was to provide small loans for home construction with adequate financing and to stimulate the building industry. The FHA became the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 1965.

National Recovery Administration (1933-1935)
The NRA allowed industries to create "codes of fair competition" which were intended to reduce "destructive competition" and to help workers by setting minimum wages and maximum weekly hours. It also allowed industry heads to collectively set "price floors." It was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in 1935, but many of its provisions appeared in other acts.

Works Progress Administration (1935-1943)
This program began as FERA in 1933 and changed to the WPA in 1935. It was established to put men to work in jobs of "public usefulness" including building schools, parks, and playgrounds. WPA also had a Federal Arts Project to provide jobs of "cultural usefullness" that kept the American arts alive.
