Ranger Update
NPS Denali Patrol #4 (Chenoweth, 4 VIPs) has seen a lot of action 17,200-feet. Following a successful lowering and evacuation of a frostbite patient on Sunday, the patrol has been busy assisting a climber with mild signs of HAPE at high camp.
NPS Denali Patrol #5 (McBrayer, 4 VIPs) are hanging around at 14,200-foot camp today.
NPS Denali Patrol #6 is (Gentzel, Corn, + 4 VIPs) are moving up the West Buttress from 9,600-feet to the 11,200-foot camp.
NPS Basecamp Patrol #5 (Shain + 1 VIPs) are positioned at Basecamp today.
And might as well mention it here, but the primary compiler of these Field Reports (M. Gualtieri) is out of the office this week, and working hard to get the posts input in a timely manner...but nevertheless, some might be posted later in the day than usual! Thanks for your patience.
Route Conditions
Ranger Mik Shain at Basecamp reports that the lower glaciers are still in surprisingly decent travel condition so far, despite the warm temperatures and blazing sun. Nevertheless, they are starting to decline and most climbers are travelling on a night schedule to take advantage of cooler nighttime temps.
Ranger Joey McBrayer has heard report of some light rockfall activity between Windy Corner and the Headwall as a result of increasing temperatures.
Sounds like yesterday was a big summit day!
