Recently a team of climbers from the United States Geologic Survey installed a permanent benchmark at approximately 13,000 feet near Windy Corner on Denali's West Buttress. This mark is one of very few permanent markers that is accessible. It will be used to track plate movement.
The team also went to Denali's summit and employed ground penetrating radar to determine the amount of snow and ice above the bedrock. It is believed to be about 13 feet... but stay tuned for the exact measurement. In any case we don't expect the mountains elevation to change again.
