Your Fee Dollars at Work

The Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA) was signed into law by President George W. Bush on December 8, 2004. Recreation fees collected under FLREA are reinvested in to parks to benefit the visitor by addressing deferred maintenance projects and enhancing the visitor experience. Of the 423 units of the National Park Service, 108 parks charge an entrance fee.

Cumberland Island NS has an entrance fee of $15 for adults. The fee revenue collected at Cumberland Island NS plays a vital role in funding many operations and park projects within the Seashore and the park service. Approximately 80% of the fee revenue remains in the park to fund park projects. The other 20% goes to assist other projects within the park service.

These funds are used for numerous projects that enhance our resources for visitor use and enjoyment. See below some of the places around the park being improved using fee dollars.
