In celebration of the National Park Service’s one hundredth anniversary, entrance fees will be waived for Crater Lake National Park from August 25 through August 28. We invite the public to join us in wishing the National Park Service a “Happy Birthday” on this very special week.

Waived fees include entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees. Other fees such as reservation, camping, tours, and concession fees are not included.

Crater Lake National Park will host a “pop up” museum on August 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Rim Village Community House. A “pop up” museum is a temporary exhibit created by anyone who chooses to participate. For this event, Crater Lake staff invite you to bring your Crater Lake memorabilia to share. Participants will write a label for their object and leave it on display for others to see for a few hours. The objects can be old, new, unique, or just curious. The goal is to bring people together to share their National Park Service memories through stories, art, and objects.

Participants are invited to bring not only Crater Lake memorabilia, but treasures from any other national park as well. Items and information will be photographed if acceptable to the object owners to record the exhibit, and participants will take their items home with them at the conclusion of the event. The Southern Oregon Historical Society will also contribute some special Crater Lake artifacts for everyone to see. Refreshments will be provided.

In addition to the museum, there will be Centennial Junior Ranger programs in Rim Village throughout the afternoon with the opportunity to get a special Centennial Junior Ranger booklet and commemorative stickers. In the evening, join park rangers for a Centennial evening campfire program at the Mazama Amphitheatre at 8:00 p.m.

We look forward to celebrating 100 years of the National Park Service with you!
