Picnic Shelter Information

The 22 individual picnic pads each have a table, bench, grill, and trash can.

Individual picnic tables are on a first come, first served basis and are free.

 

The park has 1 picnic shelter. Its capacity is 50 people.

Picnic Shelter
In order to reserve the shelter, you must fill out an application for a Special Use Permit. The non-refundable processing fee is $50 and must be paid by check or money order.

Please note: this shelter is appropriate for organized picnics and is limited to 50 people. Unfortunately we cannot hold dates and only accept reservations for the current calendar year. You may call 864-461-2828 to see if the date you want is available and then fill out the application and bring it with you.

Please note that this is not the mailing address. This must be done between 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM. When we receive the completed application and fee, we will notify you if it has been approved. At that time, you will be asked to sign a binding permit.

Non-refundable fee to reserve shelter:
$50 processing fee due at time of application

Payment must be made in the form of cash or check made payable to National Park Service. The shelter is not reserved until the fees are received in our office.

The shelter cannot accommodate more than 50 people.

Fees are waived for curriculum-based school and military groups. The permit is for the shelter only and not the surrounding grounds.

It is expected that the shelter, including restrooms, will be left clean and orderly at the concludion of your use of the facility. Your adherence to all the rules and regulations governing the battlefield in addition to the conditions stated in this letter will insure the continued privilege of using this facility.

Your safety and enjoyment are important to us. Please remember you share the battlefield with persons from throughout the United States and many other countries as well. The speed limit on the loop road is 30 mph, and in the picnic area it is 20 mph. We only allow parking in marked spaces. The auto-loop road is a one-way road from the visitor center to the exit near the front gate. To exit the picnic area, turn right onto the Loop Road.
