Clicking the Choose button displays the Image Gallery dialog, for selecting an image from a gallery of “public” uploaded images or any image previously uploaded by the current user.   Clicking the New button displays the Upload New Image dialog, to upload a locally stored image and include it in the Image Gallery (for either public or private use). If an image had been previously specified, the Image Properties dialog shows a thumbnail image preview in the left side panel with property information (and indicates if the image is actual size).

In addition to Choose and New buttons, the Edit option invokes the Edit Image Properties dialog for uploading a new version of the image.

Note: There is an important difference between uploading a new image via the New button and uploading a new version via the Edit button. CommonSpot tracks versions of an image and when a new version is uploaded all references to the image will show the new version.

Once you have a "primary" image on a page, you can specify a second image to display on rollover. A rollover image appears when you mouse over the primary image. On mouse release, the primary image redisplays. Optionally specify a rollover image from the Image Properties dialog, shown above, the same way you specifiy the primary image, by selecting an image from the Image Gallery or uploading a new image file. This wizard will take you through a second round of image selection.

When you have entered an image file name, click Next to go on to the Image Size dialog, to set the size of the image on the Web page.

This window conveniently displays settings related to sizing an image:  original size, scaled size, border size, and vertical and horizontal spacing around image. To change any of these settings, click the Edit button in this section to invoke the Image Size dialog to view or change size settings. You can optionally accept or override any CSS style settings for these attributes.  Once you have made your edits, click the OK button to continue.

The Rescan Image Size button ensure that size attributes are properly obtained from the image.  CommonSpot re-runs the logic that reads image dimensions from this image file and updates the database with height and width values. This step is typically not necessary but can be useful for verifying image data or for images stored from very early versions of CommonSpot.

Enter ALT text to display on mouseover. You can leave this blank or enter short descriptive text. Sites adhering to Section 508 Accessibility standards should always use Alternate Image Text. Note that this option is required when set through Site Administration - Accessibility and may not otherwise display. See the Administrator's Reference for details.

CommonSpot provides tools for reviewing and correcting the accessibility of images within pages through the Image Alt Text view.

This section displays link information, if any. You can link an image just as you would any other CommonSpot item (bullet, text, etc.) to an existing Web page or document (file), a new page from template, a new uploaded file, another image, an e-mail link, a scheduled element, and a multimedia file or playlist, or you can create a placeholder link with no target.

While still in the Image Properties dialog, click the Edit button in the Link Section to open the Insert Link dialog and select the appropriate link type.
