Accessibility Properties

Expand Content Creation in the left panel of the Site Administration Dashboard and click Accessibility to display Accessibility Properties. Use this feature to activate/deactivate site-wide settings that support disabled users. CommonSpot provides additional guidelines and tools for creating accessible content.

The Accessibility Properties dialog contains the following fields:

Require the Alt attribute on images and objects - When checked (default), contributors must fill out the Alternate Text field for CommonSpot dialogs that assign properties to HTML images or objects. When unchecked, images and objects do not require ALT text. See the description for Alternate Image Text (Flyover Text) under Image Properties and the Description field for Upload New Image in the Contributor's Reference. Contributors can use the Image Alt Text view in CommonSpot’s Accessibility left pane to review ALT text usage and check for missing text in their pages.
Suppress dynamic rendering - When unchecked (default) allows dynamic rendering of CommonSpot pages. When checked, suppresses display of dynamically rendered items, such as DHTML components, to more easily allow people with sensory or physical disabilities to locate, identify, and access Web page information.

This dialog also provides convenient links to W3C accessibility guidelines.
