City of Rocks National Reserve is a pet-friendly national park unit. Dogs and other domestic animals are welcome in campsites and on trails.

If you follow these simple rules, you and your furry friend can enjoy City of Rocks:

  • All pets must be restrained on a leash no longer than 6 feet, at all times.
  • Pets must be secure and under control at all times.
  • Pets must not be allowed to dig, especially at staging/climbing areas.
  • Pets cannot not be left unattended in campsites or base of climbs.
  • Pet owners are responsible for removing and packing out pet waste.
  • Know your pet's physical limits and always make sure you have enough water.
  • Pets are not allowed in the visitor center, lodging or in other public buildings, with the exception of the bunkhouse, unless they are Service Animals.
Service animals are allowed in all facilities at City of Rocks and Castle Rocks.

Rangers will issue warnings, surcharges, or citations if the above rules are not followed.
