Lodging and Facilities

While City of Rocks National Reserve does not have lodging facilities within the park boundaries, one can rest and recreate 6 miles north at one of the Castle Rocks State Park Ranch facilites. Reservations are required year round and can be booked 9 months in advance.

    Guest Information for Castle Rocks State Park Lodging Facilities

    Check-In
    Check-in time for the Ranch House, the Almo Creek Cottage, and the Willow Glamping Yurt is 3:00 pm on the day of arrival. Entrance to any lodging facility is via an electronic key pad with a code emailed with your reservation confirmation. If you have questions, call the Visitor Center 208-824-5901.

    Check-Out
    Check-out time for the Ranch House, the Almo Creek Cottage, and the Willow Glamping Yurt is at 11:00 am on the day of your departure. Please make sure you follow cleaning instructions in the guest book, have collected all of your personal items, and have locked the doors and windows. For the yurt, please close the window flaps and lock the door.

    Helpful Hints During Your Stay
    Park staff want to ensure that you have a safe and memorable experience.

    • Stop in at the Visitor Center in Almo for guide books, trail maps, souvenirs, and the latest opportunities and programs.
    • For cooler ventilation in summer, turn on the ceiling fan, open the windows in the evening, and close the blinds during the day. For the Willow Glamping Yurt, unzip the outdoor windows to open to screens.
    • Heating and air conditioning units are installed in each lodging unit.
    • Willow Glamping Yurt and Almo Cottage guests will have shared access to a bathroom and shower facility located next door to the bunkhouse. Don't forget to bolt the door when using the facility, as other guests will have codes to access the bathroom house.
    • Yurt and Bunkhouse guests may also use the showers at Smoky Mountain Campground for no additional fee during the summer months (May – September). Smoky Mountain Campground is 6 miles from the Castle Rocks Ranch facilities. Don't forget to display your yellow Motor Vehicle Pass obtained when making a reservation to any of the lodging units.
     

    Rules

    • Smoking is prohibited in the facilites
    • Maximum of 2 pets in each facility
    • Please clean up after pets
    • Guests may not pitch tents or park other camping units near the Ranch House, the Almo Creek Cottage, and the Willow Glamping Yurt locations.
    • Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
    • Guests are responsible for damages in excess of normal wear and tear, and are also responsible for missing items (if not reported upon check-in).
    • Confine campfires to the designated fire-rings provided outside the lodging units.
    • Occupancy limits for each unit is as follows: no more than 8 people staying in the Ranch House, no more than 7 people staying in the Almo Creek Cottage, and no more than 4 people staying in the Willow Glamping Yurt.
    • Vehicle occupance for each unit is as follow: 3 vehicles permitted at the Ranch House, 2 vehicles at the Almo Creek Cottage, and 2 vehicles at the Willow Glamping Yurt. Vehicles should be parked in the designated parking areas. All vehicles are subject to the Motor Vehicle Entrance Fee included in your reservation. If you have an Idaho State Parks pass, the Motor Vehicle Entrance Fee is waived.
