Directions

From I-35 drive through the towns of Davis and Sulphur to the intersection of State Highway 7 and 177. Drive south on Hwy. 177 and take the first left to the Travertine Nature Center.

Travertine Nature Center hours may differ between the summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and the winter season (Labor Day through Memorial Day). Beginning April 22, 2025, Travertine Nature Center will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the summer.

Outdoor Areas

Outdoor areas of the park are open all the time. Camping is only permitted in designated sites in campgrounds.

 

When is the best time to visit?

The park is relatively uncrowded and quiet from October through April. Visitation is lowest in December, January, and February. Visitation is highest from late May through September.

In summer, weekends are much busier than the weekdays. Coming on Mondays through Thursdays will help you avoid most of the parking and crowding issues that are common on summer weekends.
