Catcotin Mountain Park is a favorite destination for many hikers, birders, campers, climbers, fisherman, and all other types of people wanting to enjoy and explore the outdoors. As the park becomes more and more popular, parking can sometimes be challenging, especially at the Visitor Center. It is always good to know that additional parking solutions wait for you just around the bend in the road. Below is a listing parking areas to consider as you plan your trip. Park Central Road Parking Lots


There are seven parking lots located along Park Central Road that offer nearly 200 parking opportunities for visitors. Weekends can see more heavy traffic trends and congestion, especially at the Visitor Center. Most of these parking areas offer park information and picnic tables. The guides below provide information and location for each parking lot on Park Central Road and what amenities found at each location.

Visitor Center (GPS Address: 14707 Park Central Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788). Main parking lot: asphalt, contains 2 electric vehicle charging stations. Secondary parking lot: across Park Central Road from the Visitor Center, gravel surface. Restroom, maps, and information available at Visitor Center when open. Picnic Tables located by gravel lot. Additional parking: It is legal to park along Route 77 as long as your vehicle is entirely outside the white line. Route 77 is outside of the park jurisdiction.

Map and bulletin board. May temporarily close due to winter weather and/or icy road conditions. This small parking area is ideal for rock climbers.

Foxville-Deerfield Road Parking Lots


The parking areas along Foxville-Deerfiled Road offer a much more quieter environment than what can be found along Park Central Road. A picnic area, historical exhibit, interpretive information, and miles of hiking trails wait for you along this road.

Most of these parking areas offer park information and picnic tables. The guides below provide information and location for each parking lot on Foxville Deerfield Road and what amenities found at each location.

Manahan Road (Camp Round Meadow) Parking Lot

The parking lot at Camp Round Meadow is one of the largest parking lots located in Catoctin mountain Park. From here, one can access the numerous hiking trails via the Brown's Farm Trail.

Route 77 Parking Areas


There are two parking areas located along Route 77. These parking areas offer access to nearby water features and hiking trails. Park information can be found at, or near, these parking areas to assist in park orientation and hiking trail options.

Park Headquarters Outer Area Parking (GPS Address: 6602 Foxville Road, Thurmont, MD 21788). This parking area is located along Route 77 directly in front of the Park Headquarters entrance gate. A bulletin board and orientation map board are located near the entrance to the parking area. Area provides fishing access to Big Hunting Creek.
