The National Park Service may require a special use permit for certain activities to occur in Cane River Creole National Historical Park. These include organized gatherings like weddings, family reunions, public assemblies and demonstrations, special events, filming, and some commercial activities like commercial guided tours or still photography. A special park use is defined as a short-term activity that:
takes place in a park area, and that:provides a benefit to an individual, group, or organization rather than the public at large;
requires written authorization and some degree of management control from the National Park Service (NPS) in order to protect park resources and the public interest;
is not prohibited by law or regulation;is not initiated, sponsored, or conducted by the NPS; and
is not managed under a concession contract or lease.
Please note that while a special park use may meet the above criteria, not all activities are approved based on park specific resources, visitation, and potential impact.

Requests for special uses of the park require the submission of a completed application along with a non-refundable $100 application processing fee made payable to "National Park Service". The processing fee MUST accompany your completed application before the park will consider your permit request. Once received, the permit application request will be reviewed as quickly as possible; however, please note that the park has 30 days to process requests.

In addition to the application processing fee, permits may require the payment of cost recovery charges, a location fee, and proof of liability insurance naming the United States as also insured.
