Because Cape Henry Memorial is located on Fort Story Military Reservation it may be closed during periods of heightened National Security.
- Accessing the site is via a shuttle that operates 10 AM to 4 PM every day from the Fort Story parking lot at Gate 8.
- At the gate provide your ID.
- Park your vehicle in the parking lot to the left of the gate.
- After parking your vehicle, proceed into the covered station for a weapons scan and then sign in.
- Board the shuttle provided by Preservation Virginia. It will drop you off at the parking lot adjacent to the older Lighthouse and gift shop.
- Walk about 2 blocks to Cape Henry Memorial since the shuttle does not stop at the Memorial. The shuttle runs about every 15 minutes.
- When you return to where you checked in, your ID will be returned at the covered station.
