Trail Headquarters & Exhibits


The Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail has two primary visitor contact stations located at Historic Jamestowne in coastal Virginia and the Zimmerman Center for Heritage in southeastern Pennsylvania.

The trail also has an special museum exhibit about the Werowocomoco site hosted by the Gloucester County Visitor Center in Gloucester, Virginia. For more information about any of our visitor centers, follow the links below.

Historic Jamestowne

Historic Jamestowne serves as the trail's headquarters and is the starting and ending point of the trail.

Zimmerman Center for Heritage

The Zimmerman Center is the trail's gateway to the Susquehanna River and Native Lands Park, the site of the last Susquehannock village.

Historic downtown Gloucester is home to an exciting new exhibit about nearby Werowocomoco, the center of power during the Powhatan Chiefdom.
