Current Conditions for the A.G. Gaston MotelThe 1954 wing is closed for renovation. Visit our construction page to learn more about the renovation progress. Part of the 1968 addition to the A.G. Gaston Motel (run by the City of Birmingham) is open to visitors, including an exhibit space and coffee shop. It is not possible to enter any of the former motel rooms at this time. The National Park Service and the City of Birmingham are working to restore the motel.Updates to the operation of the motel are ongoing and new services will be added as renovations and updates are completed.Loading weather forecast... Temperatures can soar to extremes of heat and humidity in the summer and fall to damp, wet, cold in the winter. Visitors should dress in comfortable clothing during the summer season, wear comfortable shoes, and use sunscreen. Drink plenty of fluids to maintain hydration. In the spring and fall, visitors should have a light jacket available as temperatures can drop suddenly. Winter temperatures can be unpredictable, ranging from mild to extremely cold. |
