Wood-Pawcatuck Wild and Scenic River
On March 12, 2019, with the signing of the ‘John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act’, the Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed was officially designated as a Partnership Wild and Scenic River. The designated 300 square mile area that borders Rhode Island and Connecticut includes seven major rivers as well as countless lakes, wetlands, and smaller streams. This watershed was also designated alongside two other Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers, the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers and the Lower Farmington & Salmon Brook.
