Wekiva Wild and Scenic River
The Wekiva is celebrating its 20th anniversary! Designated on October 13, 2000, the Wekiva is the southernmost Partnership Wild and Scenic River (PWSR) and the sole PWSR located in Florida. With 41.6 miles designated, it is hard to beat the year-round enjoyment of paddling along the river. Five outstandingly remarkable values (ORVs) have been identified for the Wekiva river system: scenic, recreation, wildlife and habitat, historic and cultural, and water quality and quantity. From black bears to beautiful birds, the Wekiva offers a wonderful wildlife array for everyone to enjoy.
