Join us on October 3 for Living History Day! Alcatraz Island began as a military fort and played an important role in the American Civil War in the West. There will be Civil War re-enactors, dressed in historical period attire leading tours about the Civil War era on Alcatraz.

Events include walking tours on the hour from 9 AM - 2 PM, including Fort Alcatraz, concerts by the band, and military drills. Exhibits include soldier’s equipment, 1860s medical displays, household items and women's roles in the Civil War.

This event is hosted by the Friends of Civil War Alcatraz, a non-profit historical group.
