Beyond The ShorelineAlthough the majority of Acadia exists on Mount Desert Island, Schoodic Peninsula, and Isle au Haut, the park also manages land and structures on more than a dozen outlying islands. Many of these islands are home to longstanding communities that have been working these waters and waterfronts for generations. You can visit two of these islands - the Islesford Historical Museum on Little Cranberry Island and the entirety of Baker Island - via ranger-led guided tours: The remainder of the islands remain inaccessible to the public. Some of these island are managed through conservation easements and others are fully owned by the park. Any attempts at camping or fires on these islands is strictly prohibited.
