Early Park Employees

Many of the trailblazers who were instrumental in founding Acadia National Park became National Park Service (NPS) employees. For some, it was a lifetime commitment. First park superintendent George B. Dorr, and early park architects, planners and scientists, as well as administrative staff laid the foundation for park management into the future. Early rangers were providing enforcement and education as early as the 1930s.

Over the course of the park's history, some employees stand out for their historic contributions. Many have recorded oral histories that give us a window in the development of this special place.
