Though often under-told, African American stories are a powerful and dynamic piece of the heritage of Acadia National Park and the surrounding communities. From Thomas Frazier, the first known free African American resident of Schoodic Point to the contributions of Job Corps participants and the many African American members of the community, African American people have influenced this place often in the face of racism and isolation from larger African American population centers.
