The Acadia Teacher Collaborative is designed for local teachers to create a community of practice focusing on providing children with outdoor learning experiences. Acadia education rangers’ partner with local schools to discuss using schools as outdoor classrooms and together teachers and rangers design lessons that relate to both the national park environment and schools.

Since 2018, park rangers and teachers have been meeting to collaborate and create a body of lessons and activities for all teachers to take students outside.

For teachers looking to dive deeper into outdoor learning, Acadia National Park offers a 40 hour summer workshop to explore Acadia in a hands-on way, and write an activity inspired by your experience. The summer workshop is typically once a week 8-10 hours between late June and early August. Space is limited, so teachers are expected to attend each day fully.
