NPS / Jim Peaco Private businesses play an important role in helping the National Park Service carry out its mission by offering services to park visitors that are not provided directly by the government. By welcoming the private sector as a partner in providing services, we can ensure people have access to services they need and broaden the economic base of surrounding communities. The government developed two types of contracts, managed by our office of Business and Commercial Services, based on the scale of the commercial activity: concessions contracts and commercial use authorizations. Yellowstone National Park Lodges
Yellowstone National Parks Lodges provides lodging within the park. They also provide dining, retail, and year-round recreation services. 
Yellowstone General Stores
Yellowstone General Stores operates general stores in Yellowstone providing food, equipment, supplies, and keepsakes. 
Yellowstone Park Service Stations (YPSS
YPSS operates fuel facilities, convenience stores, and automotive towing/repair shops. 
STG International
STGi operates three urgent care clinics within the park, open to the public and equipped for most medical emergencies and routine care. In addition, Yellowstone has entered into 25 oversnow vehicle tour contracts for guided transportation on the park’s winter snow roads, and 41 saddle and pack stock contracts. The park also has a bear spray rental concessioner, Bear Aware. Commercial Use AuthorizationsCommercial Use Authorizations (CUAs) permit small-scale, commercial activities that are appropriate, low-impact, and consistent with the purpose for which Yellowstone was established. Hundreds of companies operate in Yellowstone under CUAs to provide services like road-based tours, guided fly fishing, and photography trips.
