Explore a National Treasure!

Tonto National Monument provides a place to explore and learn about a unique part of America's heritage.

The park is open everyday from 8 am to 5 pm. except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day and will close early at 1:45 pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. For more information visit the Hours & Seasons page.

 

Lower Cliff Dwelling

The Lower Cliff Dwelling trail is a steep 0.5 mile walk uphill on a paved path. When you arrive, check in at the visitor center. You must start your hike before 4 pm. During the months of June, July, and August, you must start your hike before 12 noon. Hiking to the Lower Cliff Dwelling takes about one hour round-trip.

Upper Cliff Dwelling

The Upper Cliff Dwelling is accessible by guided tour with a reservation only. The tour takes 3 to 4 hours. Tours are offered every Saturday and Sunday from November through April. Visitor Center and Museum

The visitor center offers a great introduction to the people and way of life that occupied this place 700 years ago. Watch the 18 minute park film and browse throughout the parkstore, operated by Western National Parks Association.

Entrance Fees

Tonto National Monument charges $10 per person. Children under 16 are free. All Federal Passes (Annual, Senior, Access, Military, Fourth Grade, Volunteer) are accepted. Visit the Fees and Passes page or the Special Use Permits page for more information.

Pets

Pets are allowed on the Lower Cliff Dwelling trail and must be leashed at all time. Pets are not allowed in the Visitor Center or in the Lower Cliff Dwelling itself. It is illegal to leave your pet in the car. Even during mild temperatures, the inside of cars may become very hot while sitting in the sun. It is illegal to leave a car idling in the parking lot. Accessibility

The Visitor Center, museum, replica room, bookstore, and picnic area all meet accessibility standards for people with mobility issues. The trails to the cliff dwellings are steeply graded and do not meet accessibility standards. For more information, visit the Accessibility page.
