Dos Lomitas is not accessible. The southeast border road from Lukeville Port of Entry eastward to the Santa Rosa Mountains is closed to public vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

• Pozo Nuevo Road to Bates Well Ranch High Clearance, 4-Wheel Drive Only

  Alert, Severity, caution, Pozo Nuevo Road to Bates Well Ranch High Clearance, 4-Wheel Drive OnlyHigh Clearance, 4-wheel drive is required from where Pozo Nuevo Road begins along South Puerto Blanch Drive to Bates Well Ranch area. The road is washed out in areas. Bates Well Ranch is still accessible from the north on Darby Well Road.

• Feral Dogs May Be Seen in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

  Alert, Severity, caution, Feral Dogs May Be Seen in Organ Pipe Cactus National MonumentFeral dogs may be present at the Twin Peaks Campground and around the Kris Eggle Visitor Center. Visitors should not attempt to feed or water these dogs or approach them in any way as they may carry disease or become hostile.

Road Conditions

All park roads remain open with the exception of:

• The southeast border road along the wall is closed (not South Puerto Blanco Road, which is open) to pedestrian and vehicle traffic between the Lukeville Port of Entry to the Santa Rosa Mountains due to construction activity safety concerns.
• Gachado Line Camp is still open; however the road further to Dos Lomitas is closed.

 

**TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER - UPDATE**

Pursuant to the authority outlined in 36 CFR § 1.5(a)(1), which provides that the Superintendent may “Designate areas for a specific use or activity, or impose conditions or restrictions on a use or activity,” the following areas are restricted or closed:

• West Border Road (Roosevelt Reservation) from the Lukeville Port of Entry west to Quitobaquito Springs.
• East Border Road (Roosevelt Reservation) from the Lukeville Port of Entry east to the Santa Rosa Mountains.
• All crossover roads leading from South Puerto Blanco to the West Border Road (Roosevelt Reservation).

This closure applies to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic and exists as a means to facilitate safe and efficient access to Department of Homeland Security personnel engaged in the execution of official duties.

Visitor education materials and alerts will be made available throughout the closure period. The effectiveness of this closure will be assessed on an on-going basis. Notice will be provided of any additional closure revisions
